The client is a leading BPO establishment. The client had a legacy system developed inhouse over the years which was rich in domain but weak in architecture and implementation to suite customers in similar space. The client benefited tremendously from the legacy system and wanted to productize it to sell it to similar businesses.

Challenge - The client didn't know where to start in its effort to generalize the legacy system for it to be an off the shelf product. The development team was not from product industry and was not following any process as such. The application was developed on an incremental basis and didn't have any documentation. The code was not at all generalized and hard-coded at a lot of places to suite their environment. There was no configuration management system, Problem Tracking system or any QA system in place.
